What would you like to do for a child?

~One Time Volunteer Opportunities~

Christmas Layette: Come to the office and help sort the gifts that are included in the Christmas Layette packing. First week of December, 2008.

Coat Drive Delivery: Help deliver coats to students in our partner schools. Monday and Tuesday, November 24th and 25th, 2008. Meet in the Christ Child Society office. Sign up with a friend!

Layette Delivery: Deliver our special Mother’s Day Layettes to our partner agencies. May 5th and 6th. 

Beautification Day: Help the Society “beautify” a local school. This event will  be held in the summer, more details to come.

  Crocheting/Knitting Classes : Sign up for classes to learn to crochet or knit  a 36” x 36” blanket for layettes.

 
~   Sponsorhip/ Coordination~

Diaper Drive: Diapers for the Layette Program are always in demand. Sign up to run a diaper drive for our layette program. Schools, parishes, community groups work great! Any time of year.

Mother’s Day Layette GiftsSponsor a collection of small gifts to share with new mothers in the May layettes. (examples: lotions, soaps, stationary etc)

  ~Ongoing Volunteer Opportunities~

Opportunity Shop : Staff the Opportunity Shop. Weekly or monthly volunteers needed.

Tutoring: provide tutoring at Christ Child Society partner schools. CCS will provide training (two trainings will be scheduled for September, 2008). Can tutor eekly or monthly.

Collating Educational Materials for Layettes : Copy and collate child safety and immunization material to go into layettes. One time per month; takes place in the office.

Kntting/Crocheting: Use your talents to knit/crochet blankets for layettes. Yarn available for pick up in the office. 

No Sew Blankets:  No skill required! Create a “No Sew” blanket! Directions will be provided by the office.

Liaison for Senior Center : Monthly drop off and pick up of yarn and blankets at one of our centers (one time per month)

 Thank You Notes: Write thank you notes to our knitters. Can be done from home, office will provide materials. Approximately three times per year.

 ~Committees~

The chapter always needs members and friends to participate in its many committees:

 Development Committee: works to increase revenue for programs through development activities. Meets four times per year.

Gala Committee: Gala weekend scheduled for February 27-28. Committee begins meeting in September. Meets monthly up until the gala.

Layette Committee : oversee all facets of the layette program. Meets four times per year and participates in annual agency breakfast (held in the fall)

School Programs Committee: oversees School Counseling Program, Camp, Uniform and Adopt a School. Meets four times per year.

Marketing and Communication: increases communication and profile with members and outside community Meets four times per year.

Membership Committee: coordinates member and volunteer activities including recruitment and appreciation events. Meets four times per year.
