Dear Members and Friends of the Christ Child Society,
During these unprecedented, difficult and challenging times, we turn to the words of our founder, Mary Virginia Merrick, who inspires us "to see the Christ Child in every child and to serve Him." Her passion to love and serve every child, especially those who are underserved, marginalized and vulnerable has remained at the core of our mission since 1887.
Seeing Christ in every person reaffirms our respect for the dignity of all, "regardless of race or creed." Please join us as we pray for an end to prejudice, discrimination, racism and injustice.
In serving the young and those without hope, Mary Virginia Merrick proclaimed the love of Jesus and demonstrated that "nothing is ever too much to do for a child." For 133 years, the Society has stayed faithful to her vision. We have been there for those who need us and we continue to "see a need and fill it" - even in these most daunting times.
We ask that you join us in saying the Christ Child Prayer as we remember those who are struggling today because of the crushing weight of poverty and racism. Mary Virginia Merrick tasked us to "be firm and just, love much and show it." Never before have these prophetic words meant so much.
Sincerely, Stephanie Farrell, President The Christ Child Society of Washington DC "Where love leads to action."
