Layette Program

Blanket Makers

Wrap a baby in a handmade “gift of love.” Knit or crochet a handmade blanket measuring 36” x 36”. Yarn can be picked up at the CCS office.

Blanket Buddies

Be a liaison with one of our wonderful blanket makers. Bring yarn to volunteers and pick up their beautiful blankets!

Include a prayer with the blankets we provide. Tie miraculous medals onto the layette prayer cards.

Layette Delivery

Help distribute layettes to families in need and see the impact our welcome kits have on the community. Pick up layettes at the CCS office and deliver to a local agency.

Diaper Collating

Keep babies clean, dry, and happy. Repackage diapers for inclusion in the layettes.

Student Success Program


Become a Christ Child tutor and make a difference in the life of a young student. Provide reading instruction at Washington Jesuit Academy, Sacred Heart, St. Anthony’s, Washington School for Girls, San Miguel, Annunciation Catholic School, Archbishop Carroll High School, St. Francis Xavier, or St. Thomas More. Materials and training provided.

Book Bunch

Help introduce the joy of books to babies and toddlers at the Family Place! Volunteers read books to mothers and babies and plan fun sensory, educational, and crafty activities.

Girls on the Rise Program

Rebel Girls Book Club

Enjoy books and lively discussion on women of significance of today and yesterday with the Girls on the Rise at the Merrick Center. Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls books and lesson plans provided. Volunteers bring materials for activities and a snack.

Girls Summit

Help kick off the school year with Girls Summit where girls and their parents learn new skills, tools and resources to help them succeed during the academic year.

Host a Drive

Host a drive at your parish, workplace, or school to collect materials needed for our programs. We are always in need of drives for diapers, wipes, books, hygiene products, healthy snacks, or winter accessories. Signage and flyers will be provided.

CCS Main Office

Help out with administrative tasks at the CCS office! We always need people to help us with mailings – membership mailing, invitations to events and annual giving appeals.

Opportunity Shop

Volunteer at our upscale consignment shop in Georgetown! Volunteers are needed for sales, stocking, merchandising, and assisting with consignment appointments.
