What would you like to do for a child?

Layette Program

Blanket Makers

Wrap a baby in a handmade “gift of love.” Knit or crochet a handmade blanket measuring 36” x 36”. Yarn can be picked up at the CCS office.

Blanket Buddies

Be a liaison with one of our wonderful blanket makers. Bring yarn to volunteers and pick up their beautiful blankets!

Medaling

Include a prayer with the blankets we provide. Tie miraculous medals onto the layette prayer cards.

Layette Delivery

Help distribute layettes to families in need and see the impact our welcome kits have on the community. Pick up layettes at the CCS office and deliver to a local agency.

Host a Drive

We are always in need of board books, diapers, and wipes for our Layettes. Coordinate a New Board Book Drive or a Diaper Drive for size 1 and 2 diapers with your school, sports team, parish, workplace, etc. Signage and flyers will be provided.

 

Student Success Program

Tutoring

Become a Christ Child tutor and make a difference in the life of a young student. Provide reading instruction at Sacred Heart, St. Anthony’s, Washington School for Girls, San Miguel, Annunciation Catholic School, or Don Bosco Cristo Rey. Materials and training provided.

Book Bunch

Help introduce the joy of books to babies and toddlers at one of our partner schools! Volunteers read books to mothers and babies and plan fun sensory, educational, and crafty activities.

 

Girls on the Rise Program

Tutoring

Provide individual tutoring and homework help after school at Girls on the Rise.

Become a Pen Pal

Exchange monthly letters, emails, or text messages with one of our girls.

Become a Book Buddy

Read the same book as one of our K-3rd grade girls and share thoughts and ideas with them.

Conduct a Workshop

Conduct a workshop on one topic for middle and high school students.

Help Out at the Merrick Center

Help with an event or spend a few hours working in their garden.

Give a Talk

Give a talk on careers, college, life journey, and other relevant topics to our after-school girls and high school girls.

 

Opportunity Shop

Volunteer at our upscale consignment shop in Georgetown! Volunteers are needed for sales, stocking, merchandising, and assisting with consignment appointments.
